Raja Gidh

Bano qudsia is known as legend of Urdu writing. Her Books are master piece in urdu literature. When I heard this novel name.  I have started to search the meaning of this book name Raja Gidh. Raja means the king and Gidh is the urdu word for vultures that eats the dead animals.  Basically Raja Gidh mean THE KING OF VULTURES .  Bano qudsia has wrote this novel at the concept of halaal & haram and love without destination  . This novel highlight the concept that we should ,nt  love anything more than love of ALLAH(CREATOR) . The story starts with a girl who had broad standpoint on life. Her conclusion and charm makes her attractive. Her professor and two class fellows attracted towards her.  She fell in love with one of her class fellow .  But his class fellow choose another girl for marriage.  She turns into depression and grief. After reading this you will think that this story is based on triangle love but it actually not about only love.  This story is divided in to four parts that is love without destination, forbidden and unforbidden things, story of pain and consciousness of death.

The story also depicts the consequences a man has to suffer when he indulges in haraam deeds. It leads the human to run for the things which are beyond humanity and create madness in him. The madness to achieve his desires not caring about haraam or halal. Like the story revolves around a vulture (Gidh) who was thrown out of the forest for her madness. The forest community thinks that madness arises in vulture because of eating the carcasses of dead animal and if they stayed in the community it will destroy the whole community. And that’s Qudsia’s point as well. When one person engrossed himself in Haraam, lead the community towards it and these haram acts travel from generation to generation.
